Tea Tasting Form

Tea tasting is a sacred and important practice in herbalism.

Learning to taste tea mindfully with an embodied mind, spirit and body offers deep connection to the plant you are tasting. You also learn how a particular plant effects you. This teaches understanding and connection.

How to taste tea like an herbalist:

To begin, quiet your mind, take a few deep breaths. Close your eyes and bring yourself fully present into this moment.

When you feel ready…

Smell your tea. Inhale deeply. You can cup your hands around your nose, mouth & cup and inhale/exhale a few times. Sit with this smell for a few moments. Does the smell evoke anything within you? Do you notice any shifts, within yourself, emotional, physical, spiritual or?

Take a small taste of the herbal tea  in your mouth when you are completely relaxed and aware, hold the tea in your mouth, don’t swallow it right away. You can even swish it around so that it touches all the tissues of your mouth.

After this first taste begin to answer the form questions. Tasting and pausing as you need, to discern what you are noticing.
